"My brothers and sisters, do we remember to give thanks for the blessings we receive? Sincerely giving thanks not only helps us recognize our blessings, but it also unlocks the doors of heaven and helps us feel God's love."
The Divine Gift of Gratitude by President Monson
This shows many of the things I am grateful for. The Gospel, my Savior, my wonderful husband, and family, a prophet on the earth, our son, this Country, the beauty of the earth, temples, a place to call our own, music, friends...the list goes on and on. Some things I could not or did not put a picture to that I am very grateful for are my health, employment, things like washers and dryers and dishwashers, running water, food, clothing, technology like Skype that lets me see my family and friends, transportation, medical care, date night with my husband, warm showers, toothpaste....the list goes on and on.
In the kind of world we live in it is easy to take things for granted and to always think of what we dont have. I have to catch myself when I start doing that. I am thankful for a day when we reflect on what we are thankful for and the things that really matter in life. I am trying to take what my brother in-law said today and do it in my life. He said we should celebrate Thanksgiving once a month....we were talking about the food at the time but I think that is a great idea to make sure we take a good step back every month and look at what we have, because it is so easy to see what we lack.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
